In honor of Suzanne Patmore Gibbs (1967-2018)

At the 2019 Los Angeles Celebration Luncheon, Girls Inc. and the family and friends of Suzanne Patmore Gibbs proudly announced a scholarship fund through Girls Inc. commemorating Suzanne Patmore Gibbs. Suzanne was an extraordinary woman: through good deeds and her storied career as a television executive, she was a passionate advocate for the rights and opportunities of women and girls. After her unexpected passing at age 50, her family and many friends, heartbroken at the premature loss of an extraordinary wife, mother, daughter and friend, decided the most appropriate way to memorialize Suzanne was to create a scholarship to help the girls who need Girls Inc. most.

Suzanne was a dedicated supporter of Girls Inc., and believed deeply in our mission. Girls Inc. highlighted Suzanne as a true champion for girls when she was selected as an honoree for our Los Angeles Celebration in 2010. She worked tirelessly to empower the women around her and to promote female voices both on and off the screen: a role model to us all. Suzanne was committed to the next generation of female leaders, and believed wholeheartedly in the value of inspiring and building up the women around her. The Suzanne Patmore Gibbs Courage Scholarship will continue her legacy and make higher education a reality for three special girls each year.

About the Girls Inc. Scholarship Program:

Since 1993, Girls Inc. has awarded almost $7 million in scholarships to over 1,000 girls. Each year, National Scholars from across the Girls Inc. network receive grants towards their tuition at a college or university of their choice. Girls Inc. National Scholars are outstanding young women that exemplify the Girls Inc. mission; they are role models for other girls who demonstrate a commitment to achieving academically and serving their communities.
